The teaching portfolio of Marcus Glesner
Hi, my name is Marcus Glesner and welcome to my online Master’s Portfolio. I’m constructing this to showcase and share what I have learned as part of my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Master’s through Western Michigan University. As a science teacher in a diverse high school, I often work with students from other countries and cultures that are learning English while learning science content. Supporting them is a challenge as a teacher, so I enrolled in WMU’s program to learn more. As part of my portfolio I created a short unit to showcase what I have learned. My portfolio has three parts:
Teaching Philosophy
This section contains my teaching philosophy which showcases how I have approached education and how my philosophy has been changing over the years and through my Master’s program.
Lesson Plans
This section contains the lesson plans I made as part of my master’s project, the handouts, resources, materials, and student artifacts.
How I adapt Lessons
This section contains my key take-aways from TESOL theory, as well as how I approach making lessons for students with developing English language skills; what I think about when turning a regular science lesson into something more appropriate for ELL / ML students.
